Risk factors four suicide in adolescents: A literature review

Abstract

Introduction: Suicide has become a worldwide health problem, being one of the main causes of death in adolescents. Objective: The aim of this study was to identify the most common risk factors for suicide in the current available literature. Method: The aim of this study was to identify the most common risk factors for suicide in the current available literature. Results: After reading 17 articles, the most common risk factors for suicide in adolescents were identified as being female, the environment, depressive systems and the use of harmful substances; likewise, some information was found on protective factors and public policies for suicide preventio. Conclusions: It is noted that the risk factors for suicide are multifactorial, therefore it is important to design interdisciplinary, longitudinal and mixed research to broaden the vision of suicide.
